Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Treatment / Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy
We offer Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Treatment (EPAT), also known as Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy, which is an innovative modality that provides a non-surgical approach to one of the most common foot and ankle complaints, acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain. This technology is not only used with Olympic and professional athletes, but used for anyone seeking a quick return to their activities whether it is for sports or daily work/activity demands.
EPAT is the most advanced and highly effective treatment method that has been approved by the FDA with high-level scientific evidence supporting its effectiveness. This is an excellent modality to add to a comprehensive treatment plan for plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, and other musculoskeletal conditions to get you better faster and, most importantly, get you back to the activities you love.
This proprietary technology is based on a unique set of pressure waves that stimulate the metabolism, enhance blood circulation, and accelerate the healing process. EPAT is a non-invasive procedure. which takes10 minutes to complete with each treatment. Patients often report significant improvement with 3-5 treatments. Anesthesia is not required, there is no risk of infection or scarring, and there is no downtime.
We look forward to seeing if you are a candidate to add EPAT to your treatment plan.
Custom Orthotics
Custom foot orthotics are designed to align the foot and ankle into the most anatomically efficient position. They look similar to insoles, but are biomedical appliances that are custom made to correct your specific foot imbalance. The plastic body of the custom orthotic helps to re-align the foot while you walk. We understand that everyone is different, which is why custom foot orthotics are made just for you.
Custom Ankle Foot Orthotics (AFO)
Custom orthotics, also known as foot orthoses, are custom made devices designed to support your feet while treating various foot conditions that may be plaguing you. Unlike over-the-counter shoe inserts that may only provide temporary relief, custom orthotics are designed to comfort and correct the source of your pain. These are prescribed to you by a board-certified podiatrist who matches the devices to the contour of your feet to accommodate your unique foot structure.
Every patient is unique and we will craft your orthotics specifically for each foot after a complete evaluation of your medical condition, legs, ankles, and feet. We will use state of the art technology to measure your feet and understand the way you move to ensure your orthotics address all your concerns and needs.
Diabetic Shoes & Inserts
Damage to your nervous system can affect your feets ability to produce sweat and other natural oils that keep the skin lubricated. Without proper lubrication, the skin, bones, and joints of the foot can become injured.
Sometimes, those with diabetes do not notice sores or injuries to their feet until it is too late. It is important to maintain proper foot health and seek treatments immediately when an injury is present.
Poorly fitting shoes are the number one cause of foot injury when it comes to diabetes. Red spots, sores, blisters, corns, calluses, or any persistent pain should be taken seriously, and properly fitting footwear (along with orthotics) should be worn.
Digital X-Rays
At Foot and Ankle Center of Ohio, we value your time and are proud to offer our patients in-house, state-of-the-art digital radiographs. We understand that proper treatment begins with an accurate diagnosis, our digital x-ray service enables us to diagnose and confirm any bone or soft tissue injuries and conditions that can be hard to determine through a physical exam. Unlike traditional x-rays that use film, digital x-rays are safer exposing patients to less radiation and faster allowing doctors to view results within minutes. With this state-of-the-art technology, we can save you time and begin customizing treatment and therapies for your needs.
